It should have been a no contest for any other contender as most parties including few opposition allies extended their support to the BJP Presidential candidate Draupadi Murmu. With this win she has become the 15th and also the 1st tribal woman president of the great Indian republic. The incumbent president will carry on the legacy of Ram Nath Kovind who held the office from 25th July 2017 till now. Kovind also hailed from a humble dalit background. Although the opposition alleged him being a puppet president, there’s much hope pegged on Draupadi to advance the cause of the suppressed, the oppressed and the underprivileged.

West Bengal CM Mamta Banerjee congratulated her and wrote that the nation looks up to her to protect the ideals of the great nation even as it is plagued by so much dissension. It’s a sour plight for Mamta as her party’s candidate ex BJP politician Yashwant Sinha suffered a resounding loss!
