Kangana Ranaut just took to social media to announce who will play the character of Sanjay Gandhi in her upcoming film Emergency.
Bollywood actress Kangana Ranaut is all set to play the role of India’s one and only female Prime Minister Indira Gandhi in her upcoming film Emergency.
The Queen star has now taken to social media to introduce the character of Sanjay Gandhi. Actor Vishak Nair will be essaying the role of the man who was “the soul of Indira … the man she loved and lost …,” as per Kangana Ranaut’s caption.
Kangana Ranaut wrote the screenplay and directed the movie Emergency, which is billed as telling the tale of a turning point in Indian political history.
A few weeks before the actress had introduced Milind Soman as the essayer of the role of Field Marshal Sam Manekshaw in the aforementioned film.
Kangana claimed that Soman was the ideal actor for the character of the celebrated war hero due to his “overpowering screen presence and talent.”
“Sam Manekshaw had clarity of vision, was a strong-headed individual and his relevance is huge in the film. The film showcases how two very strong-headed personalities, Mrs Gandhi and Sam Manekshaw, worked together to fight the war against Pakistan.
“This chapter of history intrigues me a lot as it delves into how things worked and panned out for them. We are privileged that Milind Sir will be playing this role. I hope this film does justice to his enormous talent and great screen presence,” the actor-filmmaker said in a statement.
Several characters from Emergency have already had their initial looks revealed by Kangana. In the movie, Shreyas Talpade will portray the late Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee, and Kangana will portray the late Prime Minister Indira Gandhi. Mahima Chaudhry will be portrayed as the cultural activist and Indira Gandhi’s confidante Pupul Jayakar, while Anupam will portray revolutionary leader J P Narayan.
